WHAT WE DO:
At Strive High, we cultivate a spirit of mindfulness and well-being through physical fitness and friendship. We have modified class due to the pandemic. We believe it is important for students to continue to get social interaction and not rely on social media to keep them stimulated. While having to do school from home, it is important to continue to build community and self esteem. We begin each week with a thoughtful mantra for the kids to keep in mind. Each class begins with a moment of reflection, and then we set off on our 30-45 minute run/workout depending on the day. If you’re not feeling it on a particular day and need to walk, no problem! After our workout, we gather in a social distanced circle to engage in goal setting activities, improv games and team building exercises. We talk openly about the struggles of the week, and share inspirational stories and quotes. There will be time for journal entry, meditation, reflection and plenty of space to release the stresses of the week.
WHY WE DO IT:
Everyone needs to start somewhere. Whether you just want to get up and move, or you have a goal to tryout for a school sport or you want to condition during an off season, we are here for you! I believe that each one of us is unique. We chose the name Strive High because we have learned that to find one’s authentic voice in the world, we must work at it! Strive High is about more than just physical fitness. It’s about learning skills to gain control of one’s mind, emotions and life! Being a teenager can be hard. We all struggle. We all hurt. We all have insecurities. It’s normal to feel lost, lonely or insufficient. It’s easy to get wrapped up in trying to imitate the latest trends at school or in comparing ourselves with those we follow on social media. But at Strive High, we provide a fun and supportive community where girls can be themselves. Physical fitness mixed with mindfulness, improv games, team building skills, goal setting activities and journaling, has proven time and again to be an amazing way to feel grounded and in control. At Strive High, you’ll find a group of like-minded, supportive, and strong women in your corner; your tribe! You’ll find a family of sisters who truly have your back, no matter what. Let’s face it, there are some days when you just need people who can let you know that you are loved beyond measure. At Strive High, that’s everyday!
